I know it’s very popular to talk about green living, green cleaning, eating and so on. Internet is full of information about the advantages of the eco-friendly living. At first I was a little skeptical, I admit. I thought it was just a trend. But then I decided not to be skeptical and to learn more about the green living… and to try it. It turned out it is not that bad at all. There are a few benefits of it:

  • saving money
  • taking care of your health
  • and the nature

So, I cannot say I’m a green living maniac now, but I found some things that work for me… and I’m going to share them with you. Here are some great green living ideas that will make your life better. green_living

Green cleaning

There are a lot of housewives’ blogs about DIY cleaning methods and detergents. A few months ago I was just ignoring them. I was cleaning my home with traditional detergents including chemicals. Yes, I knew they’re not environmental friendly, that it’s not good for my health to clean with them and so on… but, honestly, I didn’t care much. One they I decided to make my own DIY cleaning detergent and give it a try. I had read that baking soda and vinegar can clean everything (according to blogs) so I made a mixture of them. It included:

  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • 3 spoons baking soda
  • 2 spoons of liquid soap for a better smell.

I started to clean the bathroom with this detergent and I was amazed how easy it was and how sparkly clean it was in the end. My DIY cleaner it better than any other I had ever used. Besides that it’s much more cheaper than the others. So, ladies, just give it a try! green_cleaningUnfortunately you can’t clean your whole home with this DIY detergent. When it comes to carpet cleaning it’s better to use professional services. But first make your own research and find a company that uses eco-friendly cleaning methods. You can check out the site of the National Carpet Cleaners Association for more information.

Green ride

Is the following situation familiar to you: You are late for work, sitting helpless and nervous in your car, stuck in traffic. Eight hours later, it’s rush hour again and you’re in the same situation. Instead of experiencing this two times a day, why don’t you just leave your car in the garage and go to work by:

Public transport

Subway is faster than your car, trust me. And instead of being nervous on your way to work in the morning, you can sit it the subway or other public transport and read a book. It’s a better start of the day, right? subway Bike

I bought my very own bike two years ago and riding it is just great. I recommend you to try it. Find a route that is safe for a ride. A bikeway is the best choice. If there’s one on the way from your home to your office, don’t hesitate to use it. Riding a bike is a great work out, so you’ll be happy and in shape for the summer, ladies. Have a save ride! riding a bike Electric car

Electric cars are popular green vehicle. I don’t know much about cars, but these ones are small and cute. They are using electrical energy stored in batteries. The batteries get charged in special stations. They’re quite expensive yet, but if you can afford it, try the green ride!

Green home

Green home is not just a metaphor. The idea is to save electricity in your place. Here are a few little steps to start with.

  • Switch off your computer before you go to bed, don’t leave it on stand by.
  • Turn off the lights when you are leaving the room.
  • Say “goodbye” to the plastic bags. Go shopping with a textile one.
  • Unplug unused chargers – the one for your iPhone for example.
  • Use cloth napkins instead of paper ones.
  • Collect rain water and pour your garden with it.
  • New games consoles, like PS4 and X Box, use electricity even when they’re off. So, no consoles – sorry, boys.

I hope you’ve liked some of the ideas and you’ll give them a try. Green living is not just a trend. It’s a better life for you and the environment. Feel free to share this post if you like it. Tell me some other great green living ideas that you’ve tried!
