Cleaning our Homes More is Causing us Damage?

Every home and office have a wide variety of cleaning products, and most of us use them several times a day which sounds good, but is it actually?

Unfortunately, the fact is that the popular cleaning products which we use for washing our dishes, floors, clothes, furniture, etc. are in many cases with quite a dubious effect on our health as well as on the environment. The reason is that the majority of the conventional products we see in our local grocery store or on TV commercials are based on petroleum, and actually have a toxic effect on us and our families, as well as on the environment as a whole.

There are ways in which we can keep our homes and offices clean and nicely smelling without the hazardous effects of detergents and chemical based cleaning products.

First of all, there are already quite a few green cleaning products available on the market. They are biodegradable, not petroleum based and thus non-toxic, and yet they are efficient for cleaning. Yes, they are more expensive than the conventional cleaners but they are definitely a much healthier and environmentally safe option.

If you are not willing to spend too much money of eco-friendly cleaning products, you can easily use some cheap and readily available natural products for effective and thorough cleaning as well.

The fact is that white vinegar and baking soda, which I’m sure most homes have, can clean almost anything in your home or office. Mixed with warm water or sprinkled on dirty surfaces or stains, these natural and safe products will have an amazing cleaning effect. They are perfect, natural and safe natural carpet stain removers for example.
In order to keep the air in your home or office clean and free of toxins, it is recommended to open the windows and let the area air out on a daily basis. This is crucial for your health and the health of your family. Most air refreshing sprays and products could actually harm you more than help freshen the air at your home or office.

The fact is that baking soda is highly effective in removing unpleasant odours from utilities such as fridges and dishwashers, plus it is a great natural way to remove foul smells from your carpets and rugs. All you need to do is sprinkle the smelly carpeting and let the baking soda set for a while. After that hoover it off the rug and voila – the nasty smell is gone!

If you still want to add a pleasant natural scent to your home or office, why not try with some real flowers, herbs, cinnamon? Having a green leaf plant in your home or office will also act as a natural air cleaner.
Also, remember, when the time comes to use professional carpet cleaners or other cleaning professionals, there are many companies which use eco-friendly, green products and techniques for cleaning.
